Uses

A short list of the hardware, software and services I use often. This changes over time, so I keep it intentionally practical instead of exhaustive.

Hardware
  • Main machine: laptop/workstation for development, writing and day-to-day work.
  • Hosting: Raspberry Pi 4 for this site and a few personal services.
  • Mobile: Android phone for daily use and testing.
  • Other gear: a small mix of Raspberry Pi boards for experiments and home projects.
Software
  • Editor: Visual Studio Code.
  • Browser: Chrome/Chromium and Firefox.
  • Terminal: Linux shell, SSH and the terminal built into VS Code.
  • Development: PHP/Laravel, JavaScript, Git, GitHub and SQLite/MySQL depending on the project.
  • Tools: Postman/HTTP clients, database clients, Docker when useful, and whatever keeps the project simple.
Services
  • Communication: Discord and WhatsApp.
  • Projects: GitHub for code and issue tracking.
  • Personal infrastructure: self-hosted apps where it makes sense, hosted services where they save time.
